Breakfast is always a toughie for me when it comes to Paleo(ish) eating. (I cant be a true Paleo as I still have a few beers, some dairy and a good chunk of kumara!). Anyway, trying to avoid fruit for breakfast on rest days, I've got a bit bored with the standard eggs and meat kind of deal. I also still miss toast occasionally, you know.. having something to mop up all that lovely poached egg yolk instead of it just sliding around with your bacon! When in one of these zones the other day, ...

Had seen a few recipes before, but never got around to trying it. Part of me didn't think it would be any good. Hell, if you're gonna eat pizza, you may as well just eat a real one right?

Well today after a lack of inspiration in the kitchen, I decided to give the no-grain pizza a go.

Base

4 x 70g bags of ground almonds

2 large eggs

2 tsp olive oil

pinch salt

Beat the eggs and then mix the lot till it forms a dough. If too mushy add more almonds. Roll onto a non-stick ...

Its a yummer!

It makes a lot so there’s plenty for tomorrow’s breakfast or lunch. You could easily halve the ingredients if you wanted to.

1 package of lean ground beef

1 package of hot Italian sausage

8 small zucchini

4 carrots

Slice up the sausage and throw it in a skillet with the ground beef. Cook until browned in a fair amount of olive oil. Add spices liberally: garlic powder, ...

I clearly have a sweet tooth. I can't handle sugar anymore, but need something sweetish every now and then (more often these days).

So here is a Paleo IceCream. Yep that's right!

Ingred:

Frozen berries

coconut cream

apple syrup (or agave syrup)

Mix in a blender and put in a container in the freezer for 1-2 hours stirring every so often.

It came out amazing!! May consider adding some banana or other fruit to it next time.

For a small portion (obviously increase for breakfast):

1 Apple peeled and cubed

But the store bought stuff available here is pretty plastic like, and full of nitrites and other dodgy preservatives. So we're trying our hand at homemade - and it's good!!

Start with some thinly sliced steak - we've been lazy and bought minute steaks from Mad Butcher.

Marinade overnight. Recommend balsamic vinegar, lime juice, soy sauce, etc, with a good grinding of black pepper ...

Served 3 people.

1 cup berries

4 large feijoas

4-5 prunes

1/2 cup ground almonds

1/2 cup pecans (nut of choice)

1 tsp cinnamon

Blend prunes until they are chopped quite fine and have gone kind of sticky. Add rest of ingredients and blend til crumble consistency is achieved. I like a bit of texture so I leave the pecans or other nuts of choice til the end so they ...

I'm looking for some suggestions for compliant sweet things.

After lunch currently all I want to do is drain a bowl of sugar, with some chocolate on the side..I eat some fruit but the evil food machine in the hallway of my office and the downstairs cafe still call my name to buy something like a peanut slab...I resist their charms but it still tortures me..

Now 2 squares of dark choc sort of helps but I wondered if anyone has any other tricks, or should I eat something else that would ...

Like toast with your eggs?

Like your food spicy to get that metabolism up?

Check out these low carb pancakes you can have with eggs for brekky! Or just about any curry / spicy saucy dish that you want something to mop up that gravy with.. ohhhh yeahhh..

Oh, and.. theres extra protein there as well from the chickpeas. BAM!

I stole this and altered it a little from Madhur Jaffrey at http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/chickpeaflourpancake_5094.shtml

This is a very handy recipe! Mostly because it makes heaps and you can do lots with it. It doesn't have twenty ingredients after all Darren, I think I spent so long putting it together it just seemed that way. It shouldn't take long for a regular person to put together btw, I'm just a nana of a cook. If you aren't used to eating hot food you might want to tone it down a bit somewhere along the way, I skipped the banana pepper, used about half as much chili powder and it was still pretty ...
